The client, an avid hockey fan, wanted a level playing field which could be used for outdoor games in the summer and a skating rink in the winter.

Because the area was to be filled with water in the winter, it had to be level within 2-4 inches so that the skating rink which measures 40 x 100 could be filled with 6-8 inches of water.

The client installed floodlights for the area primarily so skating could take place after dark in the winter.
